Controlling a motorcycle in unexpected situations, identifying risks in time, and executing the appropriate maneuver are critical skills during a ride. To strengthen these skills, 80 people participated in two new ConSentido Safe Motorcycle Riding Workshops, held on September 7 and 8 in Iztapalapa, Mexico City.
The events brought together employees of the Circuito Exterior Mexiquense (CEM) and motorcyclists from communities near Aleatica’s toll road concessions. Both groups ride motorcycles on a daily basis and need tools that allow them to recognize risks and respond more effectively to various situations on the road.
A program for different levels of experience
During the first day, 34 CEM employees participated, taking basic- and intermediate-level courses based on their prior experience. The following day, the event welcomed 46 motorcyclists from various municipalities in the State of Mexico and Mexico City.
This combination made it possible to extend the Motociclismo ConSentido activities to people with different levels of experience and mobility contexts, with content tailored to their needs.
Skills for Responding to Road Hazards
The theoretical and practical exercises covered motorcycle riding techniques, control, and maneuvering; identifying risky situations; and riding principles. Specialized instructors provided personalized guidance to the participants.
Hands-on training is a key component of these sessions. Identifying a risky situation quickly is important, but it’s also necessary to be able to respond appropriately. To do so safely, a motorcyclist must have control of the motorcycle and possess the skills to perform the proper maneuver when faced with an unexpected situation.
A certified helmet to enhance protection
At the end of the workshop, each participant received a certificate of recognition and a donated, certified helmet—an essential item for increasing their safety during daily commutes.
The distribution of this equipment complemented the training provided in the courses and reinforced one of the objectives of Motociclismo ConSentido: to promote best riding practices and the proper use of protective gear.
