Safe Is Cool

LOGOS PROGRAMA ESCOOL

What is Safe Is Cool?

It is a program created by the Aleatica Foundation that aims to promote, advance, and implement comprehensive road safety initiatives in school settings, in line with the core principles of the Safe System approach, with the goal of fostering a culture of road safety and encouraging safe behavior among road customers.

Every day, four children and teenagers don’t return home due to traffic accidents in Mexico. At Safe Is Cool, we’re working to change this reality.

According to the National Population Council, there are more than 43 million school-age children and teenagers. Protecting them on their way to school is our top priority.

It is estimated that 54% of trips to school are made on foot, which is why we focus on the importance of protecting children and teenagers both around the school and on their routes from home to school.

How do we do it?

We assess road safety conditions around each school setting, propose and implement measures aimed at improving road safety, and reinforce these efforts through educational programs for the entire school community.

The Safe Is Cool program has had a direct impact on the safety of 2,973 people in the school communities of five schools: Isidro Fabela Middle School, Benito Juárez Middle School, and Escuela Militar Transmisiones, located in Naucalpan, as well as 519 people at Jesús Díaz de León Elementary School and 394 at Amado Nervo Elementary School, located in the Benito Juárez district
