Fundación Aleatica continues its Road Safety Training Sessions for Police Officers in the State of Mexico

  • Fundación Aleatica has trained more than 1,500 police officers across five states, totaling over 10,000 hours of theoretical and practical instruction.

State of Mexico, October 29, 2025.— Fundación Aleatica para la Seguridad Vial in coordination with the Institute of Transport of the State of Mexico (ITEM), held a Road Safety Training Session for 100 members of the operational staff in traffic, mobility, and road safety. The objective is to strengthen prevention, response, and mitigation capacities for road incidents through a training model that combines theory and practice under the Safe System approach.

In this edition, 100 public officials from 10 agencies participated, bringing Aleatica Foundation’s total to over 1,500 trained officers across five states in the country (Mexico City, State of Mexico, Tlaxcala, Puebla, and Veracruz), equivalent to more than 10,000 hours of specialized training

These actions take on special significance given the current road safety landscape in Mexico, where data show that major challenges persist.

According to the 2025 Road Safety Monitor, 2023 recorded the highest number of road traffic fatalities since 2015, with 16,489 deaths reported. Motorcyclists accounted for 62.7% of serious injuries nationwide. Projections warn that, without effective measures, Mexico could reach 25,434 annual fatalities by 2030.

This underscores the need for a multisectoral and shared responsibility among authorities, civil society, and citizens.

During the formal event, held at the Tlalnepantla campus of the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM), Candi Ashanti Domínguez, Head of the Instituto del Transporte del Estado de México, highlighted the inter-institutional collaboration with Fundación Aleatica to strengthen public policies that save lives on streets and highways:

“Under the leadership of Governor Delfina Gómez, we will continue working hand in hand with civil society organizations such as Fundación Aleatica to develop programs that help us move toward safer and more human mobility, with the goal of transforming the State’s road reality and advancing toward a zero-fatality policy.”

In the same vein, Erik Cisneros, General Director of Mobility Zone 1, emphasized that the purpose is to promote the right to mobility under safe conditions for all people, and to make a difference between life and death during a road traffic incident.

For her part, Fernanda Espinosa, Director of Fundación Aleatica para la Seguridad Vial, stated:

“Our goal is clear: to promote the right to mobility under safe road conditions for all people. With this training, the Instituto del Transporte del Estado de México and Fundación Aleatica are updating and strengthening key skills among those who make the difference between life and death in responding to a road traffic incident.”
