In Mexico, road accidents continue to be a leading cause of death among young people. This reality highlights the need to promote responses that not only inform, but also generate sustained change at the local level with the active participation of young people.
In this context, YOURS and Aleatica Foundation are announcing a new phase of collaboration to strengthen Seguro Es Cool (“Safe Is Cool”), a program aimed at young people between the ages of 18 and 25 in Chimalhuacán, State of Mexico. The program seeks to promote safer mobility from a youth, community, and practical perspective, opening up spaces with the #NoTeHagas campaign. This stage of the project is being developed in partnership with Liga Peatonal, a key local ally with extensive experience in road safety and community work in the region.
Seguro Es Cool continues the work that Fundación Aleatica has been promoting in Chimalhuacán and is strengthened in this new phase with YOURS’ focus and experience in meaningful youth participation and road safety. The program combines a road safety curriculum with an emphasis on motorcycle safety, an approach based on local realities and needs, and the strengthening of youth leadership and facilitation skills, betting on a cascade learning approach.
As part of this phase, the project aims to train 15 young facilitators, who will receive paid training through virtual and face-to-face sessions. These young people will lead workshops in high schools, with the aim of training approximately 2,000 students, generating a direct impact among peers. In turn, the program includes a community engagement and mobilization strategy through a digital campaign, which is expected to raise awareness among around 20,000 people in the municipality.

ALEATICA FOUNDATION QUOTE: “Promoting the right to mobility under safe road conditions as a reality for all people.”
Fernanda Espinosa, Director of Aleatica Foundation
From the perspective of YOURS, Seguro Es Cool strengthens the idea that young people should be the driving force behind change. The program recognizes their ability to lead awareness-raising processes, build local networks, and promote a culture of safer mobility among their peers.
“At YOURS, we strongly believe in the transformative power of youth. This partnership with Aleatica Foundation marks a decisive step toward strengthening the capacities of young people in the State of Mexico, providing them with the tools they need to drive real change in road safety and responsible motorcycle use. When young people understand their reality, they have the ability to actively participate in the design of public policies, resulting in solutions that are fairer, more effective, and truly representative of their needs. We are proud to embark on this journey together and to empower a generation that not only imagines a safer future, but also builds it.”
