Young people from Chimalhuacán are being trained as agents of change in road safety

In March, young people from Chimalhuacán began a training program to become agents of change in road safety, with the goal of promoting safer mobility in their communities. The initiative focuses on youth leadership as a way to raise awareness and address a problem that directly affects younger generations.

In Mexico, road accidents remain one of the  the leading causes of death among young people, reinforcing the need to promote solutions that integrate this group as an active part of change.

The initiative is supported by Aleatica Foundation for Road Safety, through the Seguro Es Cool program (Safe is Cool), and is developed in collaboration with YOURS (Youth for Road Safety). It includes the participation of Liga Peatonal and the Circuito Exterior Mexiquense as strategic allies, within the framework of the FIA Foundation’s Child Health Initiative.

The process officially began with an orientation session where young people were able to get to know each other, explore the program’s objectives, analyze information and evidence, and reflect on their role as agents of change to promote road safety among their peers.

Under a train-the-trainer model, young people will receive incentive-based training and replicate workshops in high school-level schools to reach approximately 2,000 students.

Over the coming months, they will continue their training through practical activities and spaces for reflection aimed at strengthening their leadership and influence.

At Aleatica Foundation for Road Safety,, we reiterate our commitment to continue promoting alliances that strengthen youth participation and contribute to transforming road safety in Mexico.

We invite you to follow the progress of young people who are preparing to create positive change in their community.
