Statistical analysis as a basis for public policy and prevention
Worldwide, 1.19 million people lose their lives in road crashes. Therefore, the United Nations General Assembly declared a second Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030 with the goal of reducing fatalities and serious injuries by at least 50% by 2030.

To meet the goals of the Second Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030, Mexico should have recorded 12,074 fatalities in 2022, however, the actual figure was 15,674, representing a 30% excess.
According to data from the Road Safety Monitor, in 2021 the downward trend in mortality, morbidity and traffic fatalities was reversed. This is due to the fact that injuries and deaths increased considerably, particularly among motorcycle users, where the upward trend has been sustained for at least the last 20 years.
